UK CAPTIVE BRED BABY SULCATA TORTOISE 2023
Sulcata tortoises are the third biggest species of tortoise in the world. They can be kept in a tortoise table or vivarium and can go outside in summer months. They still need to be brought inside at night.
Tortoises are cold blooded reptiles that need heat to function. Sulcata tortoises require a basking hotspot temperature of 85F-90F during the day. At night time the temperature should between 65F-75F. They are desert tortoises from the African Savannah where air humidity is low.
They also require Ultra Violet lighting (UVA and UVB) for at least 12 hours a day, this stimulates appetite, activity and promotes vitamin D3 synthesis which tortoises need to absorb calcium and for healthy growth.
A multi-vitamin supplement must be added to their daily diet (Reptavite/Calcium Powder). A good mixture of plants, vegetables and our Komodo complete pellet food will ensure your tortoise has a balanced diet. Fresh food should be given everyday. Tortoises drink very little water. They should be bathed in a shallow dish of fresh warm water at least once a week. This helps them release their motions and uric acid. Fresh water should be given everyday.
We have found that hemp bedding the best substrate to use for Sulcata tortoises as it is dust free and easy to clean. Droppings can be picked out daily and cleaned out fully every 3 weeks or when necessary.
Sulcata Tortoises do not hibernate.

I’ve always been very wary of buying things online especially when dealing with purchases of live animals, but from the start in regards to dealing with Wilton Pet Centre I was instantly put at ease through their friendly approach and knowledge of their trade I had the confidence that I was buying from the right people.
I put the order in on the 27th of March for 1 baby sulcata tortoise and a starter kit, and was given a delivery slot for the following Thursday (2nd April) and then was told I’d be contacted by their delivery service with a time slot for the Thursday. A few days before they called me giving a time slot for 7 in the morning, which for me was perfect. The 2nd came and dead on 7am my order was delivered.
Living in a very remote part of Pembrokeshire, Wales I was a bit sceptical about ordering from a company so far away for obvious reasons but the packaging and extra care they took in making sure it was a comfortable delivery for the tortoise was amazing.
I was also given loads of information in regards to setting up my vivarium starter kit and also just general care for my tortoise.
They’re also very helpful in taking quick phone calls to answer my questions and queries.

My sulcata got delivered on the 16th as stated when I ordered. After going to every reptile and pet shop in my city of Exeter I couldn’t get a sulcata for love nor money so I was overjoyed when I found this site. Tortoise was delivered by a nice man and the tort was warm and cosy inside his box. He has settled in well for his first night. Eating plenty and had a big drink at bath time also met the 3 dogs and 2 cats and has already started following the dogs around can’t recommend this company enough because of there great service I have now stopped using my current food supplier and have switched to them. 5 stars all round.
